GT Twenty Plenty Valley Pty Ltd Full-time Chefs required: BASE Cafe-Bar-Restaurant (GT Twenty Plenty Valley Pty Ltd). BASE is a casual contemporary restaurant, café and bar in the Plenty Valley/South Morang area, with a broad menu designed for relaxed family dining, groups and casual drinks. BASE is an all-day restaurant and bar offering breakfast, lunch and dinner of Italian-inspired favourites and Modern Australian comfort food, with wood-fired pizza, pasta, grills, seafood and an extensive range of crowd-pleasing dishes.
We are looking for a full-time Chefs who has experience in Italian and Modern Australian cuisine. Full-time hours, 38 hours per week will include both days at the weekend and then spread over the rest of the week (adaptable roster). Reports to: Head Chef or Owner.
Main Tasks: Plan and execute menus with the other Chefs/owner. Assist in coordinating the rostering of staff. Preparation and cooking of all dishes on the menu and demonstrate the same to other kitchen staff.
Ensure quality and presentation of the dishes by the kitchen staff Suggest and instruct staff in procedures to optimize the cooking process Oversee the work of kitchen staff to ensure all tasks are done as required for their section Teach new staff skills required to perform their roles to the required standard Monitor the setup of workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment Ensure the kitchen is clean and meets food hygiene standards at all times Cooks and prepares foods to the specifications required Ensure meals are produced on time, and sufficient quantities are available for their section. Monitor stock levels and order supplies for the kitchen as needed Ensure proper hygienic storage methods are utilized to prevent food loss Escalate food related issues to management and make recommendations to resolve issues such as varying ingredients to cater to customer requirements such as gluten free or egg free or halal Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure proper food service temperature Skills and Abilities Required Qualified Chef – Diploma Level required or equivalent experience. Experience and success in a similar role for 1- 2 years.
