Edinburgh

Aircrew Publications Officer

Location: Edinburgh (SA)

Clearance Requirement: Australian Positive Vetting (PV) Defence Security Clearance

Work Model: Full-time, embedded on-site alongside RAAF 92 Wing aircrew

About the Role

At Airbus Australia Pacific, we know that accurate, reliable information is what keeps aircraft in the sky and our service men and women safe on mission. We are looking for an Aircrew Publications Officer to join our integrated engineering and technical support team based at RAEAF Base Edinburgh.

Embedded directly within our Surveillance and Response team, you will act as the crucial link between technical engineering updates, US Navy/RAAF operational data, and the flight deck. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management, authoring, and seamless distribution of Aircrew Orders, Information, and Publications (OIP) for Australia's fleet of P-8A Poseidon aircraft.

Whether delivering real-time digital updates directly to aircrew Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) or managing physical flight manuals, your meticulous attention to detail will directly ensure platform airworthiness and operational capability.

What You'll Be Doing

- Interpret operational data and engineering updates from US Navy and RAAF stakeholders, authoring accurate procedural updates into official P-8A aircrew manuals and checklists.
- Process and incorporate Interim Changes (ICs) and Interim Flight Clearances (IFCs) across NATOPS Flight Manuals, NATIP, NTRP, pocket checklists, and Beach Level Instructions.
- Manage the P-8A SharePoint portal and EFB applications (Content Locker / PDF Expert), ensuring 92WG aircrew have instant access to up-to-date documentation on the ground and in the air.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for aircrew Requests for Information (RFIs)

- logging, investigating, routing through SRSPO, and delivering clear answers back to operational crews.
- Conduct peer reviews and quality checks on change submissions, ensuring complete alignment with Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR / MAO).
- Work side-by-side with engineers, technical writers, and 92WG flight operations personnel to foster continuous improvement and streamline publishing workflows.

Who You Are

You are an experienced aviation professional who takes immense pride in knowing that the quality of your work directly supports active mission success. You thrive in a collaborative environment, communicate naturally with both engineers and operational personnel, and possess an unshakeable commitment to flight safety.

Essential Experience & Requirements

- Proven background developing, reviewing, or amending operational procedures or technical publications.
- Hands-on experience with publishing and editing suites (Adobe FrameMaker, XML/S1000D authoring tools) and MS SharePoint / EFB content management systems.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain (or currently hold) an Australian Positive Vetting (PV) Defence security clearance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer-service mindset and a track record of building positive relationships across military and industry teams.

Desirable Experience

- Minimum 5 years of experience in aviation, aviation maintenance, airworthiness management, or a similarly regulated aerospace environment.
- Background as military aircrew, flight operations support, or an aviation maintenance trade.
- Understanding of or exposure to the Defence Technical Regulatory framework (DASR/MAO or equivalent military/commercial standards).
- Familiarity with military publication standards (S1000D, MIL-DTL-7700H, AAP7000.003 RAAF Procedures Manual).
