National HR & WHS Manager

Alvaro Logistics Group | Prestons, NSW | Full-time

Alvaro Logistics Group is seeking an experienced, hands-on HR & WHS Manager to lead our people and workplace safety functions across our national transport and logistics operations.

Based at Prestons, you will work closely with senior management, operational leaders, drivers and warehouse teams to strengthen safety standards, manage employee matters and ensure policies are consistently followed across the business.

About the role

This role requires someone comfortable handling employee relations one moment and walking the depot floor to address a safety issue the next. You will take ownership of both functions, providing practical advice and following issues through to resolution.

Key responsibilities

- Manage recruitment, employment contracts, onboarding, probation reviews and offboarding.

- Support managers with performance management, disciplinary matters, grievances and workplace investigations.

- Maintain HR policies, employee records, position descriptions and training registers.

- Advise management on employment obligations, relevant awards and workplace policies.

- Lead WHS inspections, risk assessments, internal audits and corrective actions across depots and operational sites.

- Investigate incidents, injuries and near misses, identify causes and implement preventative measures.

- Develop and maintain safe work procedures covering loading, unloading, forklifts, pedestrian separation, manual handling and other operational risks.

- Coordinate inductions,



toolbox talks and training for employees and subcontractors.

- Manage workers compensation claims and coordinate return-to-work arrangements.

- Work with transport and compliance managers on Chain of Responsibility and fatigue-related safety risks.

- Report HR and WHS performance, outstanding actions and emerging risks to senior management.

- Travel to interstate sites as required.

About you

You are an approachable but firm manager who can build trust with employees while holding people accountable. You communicate clearly, exercise sound judgement and can manage sensitive matters confidentially.

You will bring:

- Demonstrated experience managing both HR and WHS responsibilities.

- Experience in transport, logistics, warehousing or a similar operational environment.

- Strong working knowledge of Australian employment requirements and WHS obligations.

- Experience conducting workplace and incident investigations.

- Relevant qualifications in HR and WHS.

- Strong organisation, record keeping and follow-through.

- A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel interstate.

Experience with workers compensation, return-to-work coordination and a workforce operating across multiple sites will be highly regarded.
