About the role

The Grounds Keeper is responsible for maintaining the presentation, safety and cleanliness of the grounds, gardens and outdoor areas at Pier Caravan Park Hervey Bay. The role supports a positive guest experience by ensuring lawns, landscaped areas, pathways, communal outdoor spaces and related equipment are maintained to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

- Maintain lawns, gardens, landscaped areas, trees, shrubs and outdoor presentation areas across the caravan park.

- Undertake mowing, edging, pruning, hedging, trimming, weeding, mulching, planting, watering and general garden labour.

- Keep guest-facing outdoor areas clean, tidy and well presented, including pathways, camp areas, communal spaces, barbecue areas and around amenities.

- Remove litter, green waste and garden debris, and support waste management activities as directed.

- Operate and maintain gardening equipment and hand tools safely, including mowers, whipper snippers, blowers, hedge trimmers and other grounds equipment.

- Identify and report hazards, damaged infrastructure, irrigation issues, pest concerns, unsafe trees or branches, and maintenance requirements.

- Assist with basic grounds and maintenance tasks where appropriate, such as minor repairs, site presentation, outdoor furniture placement and storm preparation.

- Support seasonal grounds programs, including planting,



irrigation checks, fertilising, weed control and preparation for peak holiday periods.

- Respond to reasonable guest or management requests promptly, professionally and courteously.

- Comply with workplace health and safety requirements, protected work procedures, chemical handling requirements and environmental practices.

About you

- Previous experience in gardening, groundskeeping, landscaping, parks maintenance or a similar hands-on outdoor role is desirable.

- Ability to safely use and care for gardening tools, powered equipment and machinery.

- Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean, attractive and safe outdoor spaces.

- Ability to work independently, manage routine tasks and prioritise work during busy park periods.

- Good communication skills and a friendly, guest-focused approach.

- Physical capacity to perform manual outdoor work, including lifting, bending, kneeling, walking, pushing equipment and working in varying weather conditions.

- Current driver licence is desirable and may be required where duties involve moving equipment or vehicles around the property.

- Chemical handling, horticulture, landscaping, first aid or relevant trade qualifications are desirable but not essential unless required by the employer.
