As General Manager, Billing and Payments, you will own the end-to-end billing and payments operations across Optus and lead the transformation that improves customer experience through simpler processes & systems. You will report to the Executive General Manager, Billing and Credit.

The Role

- Own the end-to-end billing and payments operation.
- Lead the billing and payments strategy, and the transformation and automation roadmap across systems and processes.
- Deliver major system upgrades and migrations as it pertains to Billing & payments.
- Hold accountability for compliance, including the Telecommunications Consumer Protections (TCP) Code, PCI DSS and unclaimed monies legislation.
- Lead billing and payment complaints through to fair, timely resolution, using root cause analysis to remove repeat issues.
- Manage vendor relationships and commercial negotiations across bill printing, payment processing and offshore teams.
- Manage the operating budget and reduce the cost per bill and cost per payment processed.
- Coach and develop a high performing team with a customer first approach.




- Lead an onshore and offshore team of approximately 140 full-time employees.

About You

- A senior leader with experience running high-volume billing, payments and/or financial operations. You should have a minimum of 15-20 years qualified experience with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience leading onshore and offshore teams.
- A strong grounding in controls, reconciliation and regulatory compliance.
- A track record of delivering system transformation and automation.
- Commercial capability to negotiate and manage major vendor contracts.
- A customer first mindset and the ability to lead people through change.
