About the role

We are seeking experienced Kitchen Hands / Utilities Team Members for permanent, full-time positions at prestigious 5-star hotels in Sydney CBD.

These roles combine kitchen hand duties, dishwashing, stewarding and commercial kitchen cleaning. You will assist chefs with food preparation, plate-up, organising cooking equipment and cooking when required. You will also maintain clean, hygienic and organised kitchens and back-of-house areas.

These positions focus on kitchen operations, stewarding and cleaning, not hotel housekeeping.

Available Shifts

- AM, PM and overnight shifts
- Permanent, full-time positions
- Weekend availability required
- Flexible availability across a seven-day rotating roster

Duties & Responsibilities

- Assist chefs with food preparation, plate-up and cooking tasks when required.
- Organise and maintain cooking equipment, utensils and kitchen supplies.
- Wash plates, cutlery, pots, pans and kitchen utensils.
- Operate commercial dishwashers and kitchen equipment safely.
- Perform stewarding duties supporting hotel kitchens and food and beverage outlets.
- Clean and sanitise commercial kitchens, food preparation areas, benches, floors and equipment.
- Perform routine and deep cleaning of commercial kitchen areas.
- Maintain clean and organised kitchen storerooms and back-of-house areas.




- Handle cleaning chemicals safely and follow workplace procedures.
- Follow food safety, HACCP and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Report damaged equipment, maintenance issues and hazards to supervisors.
- Complete cleaning schedules and checklists to the required standard.

Skills and Experience

- Previous experience as a Kitchen Hand, Steward, Dishwasher, Utility Attendant or Commercial Cleaner is essential.
- Experience in a hotel, restaurant or high-volume commercial kitchen is highly regarded.
- Understanding of commercial kitchen equipment, dishwashing and cleaning procedures.
- Knowledge of food safety, HACCP, chemical handling and workplace health and safety.
- Ability to assist with food preparation and plate-up when required.
- Good presentation, communication skills and English proficiency.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Availability for rotating AM, PM and overnight shifts, including weekends.
- Current Australian working rights.
