The ACT Courts and Tribunal (SCTCT) is seeking an experienced and motivated leader to join the Sheriff's Office as a Senior Team Leader. This is an exciting chance to lead a small team delivering critical operational and enforcement services that support the administration of justice across the ACT Courts and Tribunal.

In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day activities of Sheriff's Assistants, provide leadership and support to staff, and work closely with a range of stakeholders including judicial officers, legal practitioners, court staff and government agencies. You will be responsible for managing operational priorities, resolving complex enquiries, exercising statutory powers as a Deputy Sheriff, and contributing to the continuous improvement of policies, procedures and service delivery.

The role requires sound judgement, professionalism, resilience and a strong commitment to customer service.

Due to the nature of the work, you may be exposed to sensitive or traumatic situations and material. Hybrid working arrangements are not suitable for this position due to operational requirements.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community.

We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability,

people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.

Eligibility/Other Requirements

- Experience working in client facing or customer service roles is highly desirable.
- A Driver's licence Class C is essential.
- Deputy Sheriffs are required to wear a uniform and conform with dress code and personal appearance guidelines.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo a National Criminal History Check.
- This position does not require a Working with Vulnerable People Check.

Note: This is a temporary position available immediately until 30 June 2027.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.

Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.

Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the efficient administration of the service.

Where an offer of employment is for a fixed-term period, any related temporary contracts within the Territory will be issued in compliance with the requirements and applicable exceptions outlined in the Fair Work Act.

The ACT public service is committed to closing the gap, underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved. More information can be found here ACT Closing the Gap Implementation Plan - ACT Government Transparency Portal.
