About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and joining the Executive Leadership Team, the General Manager – Destination, Experience & Engagement will lead how people experience and engage with South Bank. This is a broad executive role with the opportunity to influence the precinct’s positioning, visitation and connection with the community as Brisbane continues to grow and build towards 2032.

Leading the Destination, Experience & Engagement portfolio, you will:

- Set and deliver the precinct experience strategy, using visitor insights, market trends and contemporary practice to shape future priorities.
- Lead tourism attraction, destination marketing, major events, communications, PR and the Visitor Information Centre.
- Build partnerships across government, tourism, business, tenants,



community and the broader precinct to strengthen South Bank’s reach and impact.
- Identify commercial, sponsorship and partnership opportunities that generate sustainable revenue and long-term value.
- Work closely with the broader Executive Leadership Team to connect place, design and development decisions with the visitor experience.
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, with accountability for financial performance, resources, risk and delivery.

About You

You will be an experienced senior leader with a background in destination management, tourism, visitor experience, precinct activation, major events or a related environment. You will understand what drives visitation and engagement and be able to translate that insight into strategies, experiences and initiatives that have measurable impact.

You will bring strong commercial and financial judgement, alongside experience identifying new revenue, partnership or sponsorship opportunities. Just as important will be your ability to operate across a complex stakeholder environment, building productive relationships with government, industry, commercial partners and the community while balancing different interests and priorities.

You will be comfortable leading at both a strategic and operational level, with the executive presence to contribute across the organisation and the leadership capability to bring together diverse teams. Experience working within, or closely alongside, government or statutory authorities will be valuable, as will tertiary qualifications in tourism, marketing, business, arts and cultural management or a related discipline.
