A Few Valuable Men is a Canberra landscape construction company. We build high-quality residential landscapes across Canberra, and full outdoor play and landscape packages for commercial builders. In 2026 we delivered two NSW Government preschools worth $2.3M in landscape works.

One of our qualified landscapers is moving on in December. We're looking for an experienced, hands-on landscaper who can also drive our MR truck and run a bobcat and excavator.

What you'll be doing

Concrete paths, slabs and edging: forming, pouring and finishing

Paving, retaining walls, fencing, timber seating and decking

Turf, garden beds, planting and irrigation

Running the bobcat and excavator for dig-outs, trenching and base prep

Driving the MR truck for materials and spoil

Setting out from landscape drawings, working alongside our senior landscaper

What you'll need

Cert III in Landscape Construction, or at least 3 years in landscape construction

MR licence

Excavator and skid steer (bobcat) tickets or VOC

White Card, plus asbestos and silica awareness

A reliable way to get to our base in Campbell each morning (we head to site together in company vehicles), plus safe work habits and a tidy site





Bonus points: carpentry skills (timber decking, seating, pergolas, steps and edging), first aid, commercial site experience (SWMS, inductions, builder handovers).

What we offer

$35–40/hr casual plus super, depending on experience and tickets, with a move to a permanent role for the right person

Monday to Friday, mostly around Canberra. If we take on regional jobs, travel, accommodation and a daily living-away allowance are paid

Work ute, tools, uniform and PPE provided

Variety: residential gardens one month, a school or preschool package the next

How we'll support you long-term

A pay review at 3 months, and a pay increase when you move to permanent

Tickets and courses paid for long-term team members: plant tickets and VOCs, an HR truck licence, first aid, and a Cert IV or supervisor course as you step up

A crew bonus on commercial jobs delivered on time and defect-free

Work directly with the director and our senior landscaper, with a clear step up to running your own crew as our commercial work grows
