The Opportunity

Our client is an ASX listed financial services organisation. They recorded record growth in FY26, with revenue and funds under management growing by over 25%
With a strong pipeline of major projects underway, they are seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join their finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys partnering with project, technology and senior stakeholders while bringing rigour to project budgeting, capitalisation and reporting.

The role will start as a 6–12 month fixed-term contract, with potential to become permanent. Flexible hybrid working is on offer, with 2–3 days per week in their Collins Street office.

The Challenge

Reporting to the Head Of Finance, your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following.

- Developing and maintaining project budgets, forecasts, cash-flow profiles and approved financial baselines
- Monitoring actuals, commitments and accruals, and preparing variance analysis with recommended corrective action




- Supporting project managers with cost estimates, business cases, change requests and scenario analysis
- Determining operating versus capital treatment and managing capitalisation, asset registers, amortisation and impairment reviews
- Preparing month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
- Preparing monthly project financial reports for steering committees, sponsors and senior management
- Partnering with Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit and external audit to ensure robust financial governance and controls

The Expertise

Please consider expressing interest in this position if you have the following:

- CA or CPA qualified with at least three years’ experience in project accounting or management accounting; PMO finance experience well regarded
- Experience supporting large technology, transformation, regulatory or product launch projects
- Background in banking, insurance, investment, superannuation or another regulated workplace is desirable
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, month end accounting, capitalisation and financial controls
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with Workday or project portfolio tools is advantageous
- The ability to explain financial concepts clearly and constructively challenge assumptions with non-finance stakeholders
