Matthew Flinders Anglican College is one of Queensland's leading private schools, set on a stunning campus in Buderim, with first-class facilities. We’re looking for a Grounds Person / Gardener to help keep our grounds secure, vibrant and welcoming.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Head of Grounds, you will play a hands-on role in maintaining and presenting our gardens, lawns, sports fields, and outdoor campus areas. While classified as casual, this role currently offers full-time hours for an initial 6 to 8-week period to cover extended staff leave. It is ideal for someone who takes pride in outdoor spaces, values high presentation standards, and has a sharp eye for detail.

Day to day, you’ll:

- Care for and maintain a wide variety of plants, trees, shrubs and lawns, including pruning, mulching, fertilising, planting and pest/disease management

- Keep turf and sports fields in top condition through mowing, watering, aeration and general upkeep

- Operate and care for grounds equipment (e.g. ride-on mowers, tractors, hedgers, edgers, brush cutters, line trimmers, chainsaws, EWP)

- Assist with landscape projects such as planting new garden beds or improving existing ones

- Help with set-up/pack-down for College events and ensure grounds are safe and well-presented

- Complete routine checks and keep basic records to support effective maintenance

- Pitch in as part of the Property Services team to keep the campus environment thriving and beautiful

Our standard hours are 6:30am-2:00pm, Monday to Friday.

ABOUT YOU

- Qualified OR hands-on: You may hold a trade qualification in horticulture/parks & gardens or bring solid,



practical experience with plants (identification, pests/diseases) and grounds care.

- Team-minded and reliable: You work safely, communicate well and enjoy being part of a supportive crew.

- Practical and proactive: You’re comfortable with small engines and grounds equipment, and you notice things that need attention.

Licences and checks:

Essential

- QLD Blue Card (Working with Children Check)

- Open or Provisional Manual drivers licence

Desirable

- Construction White Card

- Chemical handling/spray licence (ACDC)
