The role covers design from early discovery through to finished screens for a complex, data-heavy software product. It asks for at least four years in UX or product design, solid research habits, and the ability to turn technical requirements into clear workflows and prototypes. A solid candidate works well with product managers and engineers, handles vague problems calmly, and can explain design choices with evidence.

How it fits the AI era

AI tools can speed up wireframes, research summaries and design variations, so the routine parts of the craft get faster. The product itself uses machine learning to sort data and run grid scenarios, which means designers must make automated results easy to read and trust. Judgment about what users really need, and the ability to weigh trade-offs with engineers, stays human.

How it builds AI experience

Working here would mean designing screens that show the results of physics-based simulations and machine learning for utilities,

so a designer would learn how to present uncertain or automated outputs to expert users. To build this experience beforehand, try designing a concept for a map-based tool that shows model predictions, or practise using AI tools to speed up research notes and prototypes. Learning the basics of how utility networks and risk modelling work would also help.

Worth showing

- User research and synthesis
- Prototyping to polished UI
- Design system contributions
- Clear stakeholder communication

About Neara

A physics-based 3D digital twin of the electricity network, so utilities can simulate a storm or a fire before it happens rather than inspect poles after.
