MSA Australia is the national alliance of over 30 Muslim Students Associations across Australian universities, formed to provide a unified national voice for Muslim students. Up until now, roles across the alliance have been filled by appointment. For the first time, MSA Australia is opening applications for people to join the national team.

The organisation focuses on advocacy, community building and representation of Muslim students at the national level, including engagement with the tertiary education sector and the broader Australian community. By coordinating national campaigns, publishing national standards and supporting its member associations, MSA Australia strengthens collaboration across campuses and amplifies the collective voice of Muslim students. Volunteers contribute to meaningful national work that reaches Muslim students across every state.

Role Description

This is a remote volunteer role for a Graphic Designer in the MSA Australia Office of Communications.

The Graphic

Designer will create visual assets for the alliance’s digital and print channels, including social media graphics, campaign assets, event posters, infographics, advocacy visuals and promotional materials. The role involves developing concepts aligned with the MSA Australia brand,



producing visual identities for national campaigns, and ensuring consistent use of typography, colour and design elements across every piece.

The Graphic

Designer will collaborate with the Copywriter and Video Editor on multi-piece campaigns so that words, visuals and video land together as one coherent voice. The role reports to the National Director of the Office of Communications and operates on flexible hours agreed with the office.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess working skills in graphic design, with an eye for layout, type and colour.
- Candidates should have basic understanding of branding and typography to maintain visual consistency across national output.
- Proficiency in at least one design tool, such as Canva, Figma, Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop. Advanced proficiency is a bonus but not required.
- Ability to interpret briefs, work to deadlines, and collaborate effectively in a remote team setting.
- A portfolio or sample of previous work. For students or early-career designers, campus MSA work, personal projects or social media work is welcome.
- Understanding of designing for a Muslim student audience and sensitivity to cultural and community contexts.
