About DMSi

DMSi is a leading provider of ERP software solutions for the hardware, timber, and building materials industry across North America and Australia/New Zealand. For decades, we've been helping retailers, wholesalers, and trade merchants streamline their operations, manage inventory smarter, and grow their businesses with our Frameworks ERP platform.

We're a team that values innovation, customer obsession, and genuine partnerships with the businesses we serve. If you're passionate about B2B sales and want to make a real impact in the building materials industry, we'd love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

The Sr Systems Engineer, owns the AWS cloud environments and Linux systems that host DMSi’s hosted SaaS applications. This role builds and manages cloud infrastructure through automation and infrastructure as code, administers and hardens the Linux fleet, and is a primary technical contributor to the availability and security of DMSi’s hosted environments. The role works closely with security, development, and support teams to keep infrastructure reliable as it scales.

What You'll Do

1. Build, manage, and scale AWS cloud environments supporting DMSi products including Frameworks, ACC, and our data platform.

2. Design and implement infrastructure as code using Terraform for infrastructure and Ansible for OS-level configuration, replacing manual builds with repeatable, automated deployments.

3. Administer, patch, and harden Linux servers across the fleet, including planning and executing OS version upgrades.

4. Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure incidents at the OS, network, and cloud layers, and contribute to root cause analysis and postmortems.

5. Partner with security to remediate vulnerabilities and apply hardening standards across cloud and Linux environments.

6. Support networking configuration and troubleshooting, including firewall rules, routing, and connectivity issues, in coordination with the broader team.

7. Document build standards, runbooks,

and architecture decisions so the environments you build are maintainable by the rest of the team.

8. Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to production issues affecting cloud or Linux infrastructure.

9. Collaborate with development, security, and support teams to align infrastructure work with product and customer needs.

What We're Looking For:

Deep, hands-on proficiency with core AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, ELB, and related services), sufficient to design and build production environments independently.
Strong Linux systems administration skills (RHEL preferred), including patching, hardening, and OS-level troubleshooting.
Proficiency with infrastructure as code, using Terraform for infrastructure and Ansible for OS-level configuration.
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing, and VPN.
Scripting and automation ability (Bash, Python, or similar) to reduce manual, repetitive work.
Transparent written and verbal communication, including the ability to document technical work for other engineers.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and direct customer impact.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of experience administering Linux systems in a production environment.
3+ years of hands-on experience building and managing AWS infrastructure.
Exposure to technologies such as Progress OpenEdge, PostgreSQL, and Kafka is a plus.
AWS certification (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or similar) preferred.
Experience operating within a SOC 2 or similar compliance framework preferred.
Experience supporting multi-tenant SaaS environments at scale preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Normal office workplace with use of computers and telephone systems; no unusual physical demands.
Travel to customer locations as needed, including overnight stays, business air travel, and car rentals.
Participation in an on-call rotation, including response to production issues outside normal business hours.
