Your new companyHays is partnering with an established, family-owned construction contractor with a long-standing presence in the Australian market.With a strong reputation for quality delivery, long-term client relationships and repeat business, they have built a secure pipeline of projects across civil infrastructure and commercial construction, including works associated with electrical infrastructure, renewables and utilities.Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Administrator to join their Brisbane-based project team.
Your new roleThis is a senior, commercially focused position suited to an experienced construction professional who is confident about taking ownership of the contractual and commercial performance of projects from onboarding through to final close-out.You'll operate as a key commercial member of the project team, with the authority and judgement to make executive-level commercial decisions, manage contractual risk and identify opportunities that positively impact project performance and profitability.Your responsibilities will include:

- Head Contract and subcontract administration
- Contract review and commercial risk management
- payment claims, variations & delay claims
- cost control, forecasting & commercial reporting
- procurement & subcontractor negotiations
- Making key commercial decisions to protect project outcomes
- managing relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.

What you'll need to succeed

- 5+ years' experience in Contracts Administration,



Contract Management or a similar commercial construction position
- Demonstrated experience across both civil and commercial construction projects
- Comprehensive knowledge of Head Contract and Subcontract administration
- Experience reviewing and negotiating Head Contract agreements
- Strong capability across procurement, variations, claims, cost control and forecasting
- Proven ability to identify, assess and manage commercial and contractual risk
- The commercial judgement and confidence to make high-level decisions and take accountability for project outcomes
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to confidently represent the contractor with clients, consultants and subcontractors
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple contractual priorities
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Contracts Management or a related discipline
