Falcon Contracting has ongoing FIFO opportunities for experienced Underground HD Fitters and Diesel Fitters across established underground mining operations in Queensland, Northern Territory and New South Wales.

We currently have requirements across 7/7, 8/6 and other site rosters, including ongoing roster positions, planned leave coverage and maintenance support.

Underground HD Fitters – FIFO Underground Mining

$80–$95/hr | Multiple Underground Sites | 7/7 & 8/6 Rosters | Ongoing Work

The work

Depending on the site, you may be working on:

- Underground drills

- Loaders and boggers

- Underground trucks

- Charge-up and service vehicles

- Normet equipment

- Ancillary underground machinery

Equipment exposure may include:

- Sandvik

- Epiroc

- Caterpillar

- Normet

- Other underground hard-rock mining equipment

Typical duties include:

- Scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance

- Breakdown diagnosis and repair

- Hydraulic and mechanical fault-finding

- Component replacement

- Field repairs





- Equipment inspections

- Maintenance reporting and documentation

- Working within Falcon and client safety systems

What we're looking for

You will ideally have:

- Australian-recognised HD Fitter, Diesel Fitter or Heavy Vehicle trade qualification

- Underground mining experience

- Robust breakdown and diagnostic skills

- Experience on underground mobile equipment

- Current Australian driver's licence

- Ability to pass site medical and drug & alcohol requirements

- Good safety record

- Ability to work independently

- Flexibility to work across different sites and crews

Experience with Sandvik, Epiroc, Caterpillar or Normet underground equipment will be highly regarded.

Current High Risk Work Licences including Forklift, EWP, Dogging, Rigging or Crane tickets will also be highly regarded.

More than one site

This is not a role where you need to commit to the same mine indefinitely.

Falcon supports multiple underground operations and uses experienced tradespeople across planned leave coverage, roster vacancies, shutdowns, maintenance campaigns and longer-term requirements.

Some opportunities may be a single swing, while others may run for several weeks, months or develop into an ongoing site position.

For full-time employees, the aim is to provide ongoing work across Falcon's client operations rather than relying on one site or one contract.

Casual underground fitters are also welcome
