Breakthrough T1D is seeking a proactive and relationship-focused Development Coordinator to join our ACT fundraising team.

Working three days per week, you’ll grow fundraising income, strengthen supporter relationships and deliver meaningful events and campaigns supporting research, advocacy and the type 1 diabetes community.

This is a fixed-term maternity leave cover from mid-November 2026 to 14 January 2028, with the potential to extend subject to the incumbent’s return and business requirements.

About the role

You will collaborate with the ACT team and national fundraising team to grow supporter engagement and fundraising across events and campaigns.

You will:

- Recruit and coordinate community fundraisers, donors and volunteers
- Build relationships with supporters, businesses and community partners
- Deliver fundraising events, campaigns and community initiatives
- Source donations and sponsorships for raffles, auctions and events
- Connect with newly diagnosed families and build trusted relationships




- Provide responsive supporter administration and communications
- Use Salesforce to manage data and action reports
- Identify local opportunities to increase fundraising and community awareness
- Support the growth of Breakthrough T1D’s events, programs and campaigns

Location: Dickson, ACT, with hybrid working
Hours: 22.5 hours per week across three days
Reports to: National Manager, Community Fundraising

About you

You’ll be a warm, organised and relationship-focused professional who enjoys connecting people with meaningful causes.

You will bring:

- Genuine enjoyment of building positive relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong emotional intelligence, empathy and discretion
- Experience in fundraising, events, community engagement or relationship management is highly regarded
- Robust planning, organisation and time-management skills
- Confidence managing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Experience using databases; Salesforce experience is desirable
- A data-informed and creative approach to identifying fundraising opportunities
- Curiosity about the lived experience of type 1 diabetes
- Initiative, persistence and the ability to build long-term relationships
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively
