Qualified Aluminium Fabricator / Welder – MIG & TIG

Coopers Plains, Brisbane QLD | Full-Time An established custom aluminium fabrication business based in Coopers Plains, Brisbane, is seeking a qualified and experienced Aluminium Fabricator / Welder to join its workshop team.

Specialising in custom aluminium ute trays, canopies, chassis-mounted modules and other custom aluminium fabrication projects, we're looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship, has strong aluminium fabrication skills and can confidently work across all stages of the fabrication process.

This is a hands-on fabrication position, not a leading hand or supervisory role. You'll be working alongside an existing team, completing fabrication work to established quality standards.

The Role

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

- MIG and TIG welding of aluminium components
- Fabrication and assembly of custom aluminium ute trays, canopies, modules and accessories
- Cutting, folding and preparing aluminium components
- Operating workshop machinery, including guillotines, press brakes and other fabrication equipment
- Reading and working from measurements, drawings and instructions
- Measuring, marking out and accurately preparing materials
- General assembly, fitting and finishing of fabricated components
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workspace
- Working alongside existing fabricators to meet production schedules and maintain quality standards

What We're Looking For

Essential requirements:

- Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (or recognised equivalent trade qualification)
- Demonstrated experience in aluminium fabrication
- Proven competency in both MIG and TIG aluminium welding
- Experience operating folding, cutting and general fabrication machinery
- Ability to work accurately and independently on assigned tasks
- Solid attention to detail and pride in finished workmanship




- Good understanding of workshop safety practices
- Reliable, punctual and able to work well within a small team
- Willingness to follow established fabrication methods and workshop processes
- Ability to provide evidence of relevant trade qualifications and certifications+
- Must have open manual driver's licence

Experience manufacturing ute trays, canopies, toolboxes or similar aluminium products will be highly regarded, but isn't essential.

Practical Skills Assessment

All shortlisted applicants must be willing to attend an in-person practical skills assessment at our Coopers Plains workshop.

This will involve demonstrating competency in:

- Aluminium MIG welding
- Aluminium TIG welding
- Measuring, cutting and folding aluminium
- Safe and competent operation of relevant workshop machinery

This assessment forms part of our recruitment process and allows us to assess practical skills and workmanship.
