Assistant Director / 2IC – Childcare

We're a small, family-run childcare centre in Westmead, and we're looking for someone special to join our team as our Assistant Director / 2IC.

We're not a large corporate childcare chain. We're a close-knit team who genuinely care about our children, families and educators. We're looking for someone who shares those values and wants to be part of our centre's future.

This is a part time position to begin with, with the likely opportunity to move into full-time employment and potentially progress into a Centre Director role as our centre grows.

We're happy to consider an experienced Assistant Director, or a passionate Room Leader or Educational Leader who's ready to take the next step in their career.

What you'll be doing

You'll work closely with our Centre Director and be involved in both the day-to-day running of the centre and working with the children.

Your responsibilities will include

- Supporting our Centre Director with daily operations and management
- Helping lead, guide and support our educators
- Assisting with staff rosters, compliance and centre administration
- Conducting centre tours for prospective families and helping them feel welcome
- Supporting enrolments, answering parent enquiries and building relationships with families
- Helping with programming, the QIP and continuous improvement
- Ensuring we maintain high standards under the NQF, NQS and EYLF
- Spending time on the floor, supporting educators and engaging with children
- Taking on more leadership responsibilities as you grow into the role

Who we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is confident leading and managing a team. You should be comfortable delegating responsibilities, holding educators accountable, addressing performance concerns and handling difficult conversations when needed both with families and educators.



We're a friendly, supportive centre, but we also need someone who can take charge, make decisions and maintain high standards without needing constant direction.

Ideally, you'll have:

- A Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or higher (ECT qualification would be a big plus!)
- Availability to work Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
- A good understanding of childcare regulations, compliance and the EYLF
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- The confidence to support educators and communicate with families
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow
- A current Working With Children Check

Previous experience as an Assistant Director is great, but we're also happy to consider someone who's ready to step up from a Room Leader or Educational Leader position.
