Part-Time Chef – The Kitchen, Tootgarook

About The Kitchens The Kitchens is a hospitality group on the Mornington Peninsula, with four venues and a catering arm.

Each venue has its own pace and personality, but our expectations are the same: show up, work well with your team and take pride in what you do.

We're looking for a part-time chef to join The Kitchen in Tootgarook, our busy café and restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The role

You'll work alongside our kitchen and front-of-house teams to deliver quality food and a great experience for our customers.

Your responsibilities include

- Preparing and cooking dishes to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Managing your section during busy à la carte service.
- Maintaining food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Assisting with preparation, stock rotation and reducing food waste.
- Communicating effectively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams.
- Contributing to a positive, respectful and well-organised workplace.

- What we're looking for

- Experience as a chef in a busy café, restaurant or similar hospitality environment.
- Strong cooking skills and the ability to manage multiple orders during service.
- Good knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene.
- Ability to work independently and maintain consistency under pressure.
- Reliability, teamwork and pride in your work.




- Relevant cookery qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
- Availability for a rotating roster, including weekends and some evenings.

Roster and pay

Approximately 20 hours per week, generally across two to three shifts, with opportunities for additional hours during busy periods.

Award rates apply, with classification based on experience and duties.

Through 20 Cent Tuesdays, we donate 20 cents from every hot drink sold across our venues to Southern Peninsula Community Support. We also support local causes through fundraising and donations, and help young people develop skills through work experience and mentoring.
