Marlu Trade Services is seeking an experienced Commercial Sheet Vinyl Installer to join our team, working on commercial construction and refurbishment projects across the Perth metropolitan area.

We’re looking for a capable, reliable tradesperson who takes pride in their work and can contribute to a productive installation team.

About the role The role involves installing commercial sheet vinyl, safety flooring and wet area flooring systems, together with carpet tiles, vinyl planks and vinyl tiles.

You will carry out installations from initial floor preparation through to final finishing and handover. This includes organising the materials, tools and equipment needed for each task, planning daily installation activities, and coordinating with supervisors and other trades.

Essential requirements

- A minimum of three years’ hands-on commercial sheet vinyl installation experience, including safety flooring and wet area systems.
- Practical skills in substrate assessment and preparation, including grinding, patching, repairs and applying levelling compounds.
- Ability to identify moisture issues, uneven surfaces and other substrate conditions requiring assessment or rectification before installation.
- Demonstrated experience in vinyl coving, internal and external corners, junctions and floor-to-wall transitions.
- Proficiency in hot and cold seam welding techniques appropriate to the specified flooring system.

- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, floor plans, specifications and installation details.
- Accurate measuring, material calculations, cutting,



fitting and finishing skills.
- Sound knowledge of flooring materials, adhesives and their suitability for different substrates and site conditions.

- A current Construction White Card and driver’s licence.
- Valid Australian working rights for the position.
- Willingness to complete required pre-employment medical assessments and comply with applicable company and site drug and alcohol testing requirements.

Desirable experience and qualifications The following will be viewed favourably:

- Commercial entrance matting installation.
- Rubber flooring systems.
- Laminate flooring installation.

- Relevant flooring trade qualifications or industry certificates.

Performance expectations The successful applicant will be expected to:

- Deliver installations that meet project specifications, manufacturer instructions, relevant Australian Standards and required finish and performance requirements.

- Complete assigned work within agreed project timeframes without compromising safety or workmanship.
- Use materials efficiently and minimise wastage and avoidable rework.
- Inspect completed installations and promptly rectify defects before handover.

- Follow site safety procedures, safe work method statements (SWMS) and supervisors’ reasonable directions, and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Participate in site inductions, toolbox meetings and other required safety activities.
- Maintain a clean, organised work area and keep tools and equipment in safe working condition.

- Maintain accurate records of completed work and promptly report installation issues, delays, variations or matters requiring supervisor approval.
