About The Role
Canberra Health Services is looking for an experienced revenue leader to head up its Patient Accounts function.
As Director, you’ll have strategic and operational responsibility for the whole patient revenue cycle. That covers billing, invoicing, debt management, compliance and patient-facing financial services, across inpatient and outpatient streams. You’ll report to the Senior Director, Hospital Revenue and Financial Services, and be a key member of that leadership team. You’ll advise executives on revenue performance, regulatory change, risks and opportunities.
This is a chance to shape revenue strategy and governance for the ACT’s public health service, and to help strengthen its financial sustainability.
What You’ll Do
- Lead revenue strategies, policies and business rules that improve performance, compliance and consistency across the organisation.
- Oversee billing, invoicing and debt management so they are timely, accurate and compliant.
- Build governance frameworks, internal controls and assurance processes aligned with Medicare, NHRA and relevant legislation, and respond to policy and funding changes.
- Work with Digital and ICT teams to prioritise system fixes and improve revenue systems.
- Lead and develop your managers and teams, including workforce planning and capability building.
- Represent Patient Accounts on senior committees and working groups.
- Monitor and report on revenue performance, using data and analytics to support valuable decisions.
- Lead improvement initiatives that lift revenue capture, efficiency and the patient experience.
What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualifications in business, finance, health administration or a related field.
- At least five years’ experience in healthcare or finance, including at least two years as a Revenue Manager.
- A thorough understanding of NHRA, MBS and Medicare billing rules for public facilities.
- Experience with hospital systems such as PBRC IE and DHR.
- A track record leading revenue functions and managing managers in a complex organisation.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn complex data into practical insights.
- The ability to influence and engage executives, clinicians and external partners.
The successful applicant will need a pre-employment National Police Check. Some occasional travel between sites may be required.
