About the role

Enhance Living Option is seeking compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our team on a casual basis in Port Pirie, SA. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities by providing person-centred support and care. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping individuals achieve their goals, maintain their independence, and participate actively in their communities.

This casual position offers flexibility whilst allowing you to contribute to our mission of enhancing the quality of life for the people we support.

Key responsibilities

- Providing direct personal care and support to clients with disabilities, including assistance with daily living activities such as hygiene, grooming, dressing and meal preparation
- Supporting clients to participate in community activities, recreational pursuits and social engagement opportunities
- Assisting clients with mobility and safe movement, using appropriate manual handling techniques and mobility aids where necessary
- Building positive relationships with clients and fostering a person-centred approach that respects individual preferences, choices and dignity
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of support provided, including progress notes and incident reports
- Communicating effectively with clients, their families, carers and other team members to ensure coordinated and consistent support
- Supporting clients to develop life skills and build confidence in managing daily tasks and social interactions
- Adhering to duty of care responsibilities and maintaining a safe, respectful and inclusive environment




- Following all organisational policies, procedures and legislative requirements related to disability support and safeguarding

What we're looking for

- A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients
- Physical fitness and the ability to provide hands-on support, including assistance with mobility and personal care
- Patience, empathy and emotional resilience in managing challenging situations with professionalism
- Current First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it upon employment
- Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain) and a valid driver's licence are desirable
- Ability to work flexibly on a casual basis, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
- Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work
- Previous experience in aged care, disability support, healthcare or community services is highly valued but not essential if you demonstrate the right attitude and commitment
- Understanding of disability awareness and relevant legislation such as the Disability Discrimination Act and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) principles
