Job Title – Dynatrace Observability SME

Job Location – Sydney

Experience – 10+ Years

Employment Type – Contractual

Role Overview:

The Dynatrace SME is responsible for driving the enterprise observability strategy and leading the implementation, governance, and optimization of Dynatrace across applications, infrastructure,



and digital services. This role combines deep technical expertise with leadership responsibilities to enable proactive monitoring, AIOps, and business-aligned observability outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Observability Leadership & Strategy

- Define and own the enterprise observability strategy aligned to business KPIs (availability, MTTR, user experience)
- Drive adoption of observability practices across engineering, SRE, and operations teams
- Establish observability maturity roadmap
- Lead governance framework including standards, policies, and best practices

Platform Implementation & Engineering

- Lead end-to-end Dynatrace implementation across hybrid/multi-cloud environments
- Configure APM, infrastructure monitoring, RUM, Synthetic, and log analytics capabilities
- Enable AI-driven monitoring (Davis AI) for anomaly detection and RCA
- Drive proactive incident detection, reduction in noise, and alert rationalization
- Define SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets aligned to business services
- Design scalable architecture including OneAgent, ActiveGate, and cluster setup

Integration, Automation & DevOps Alignment

- Integrate Dynatrace with ITSM (ServiceNow), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms




- Enable automation, self-healing, and event-driven workflows
- Promote observability-as-code using APIs, Terraform, and OpenTelemetry
- Embed observability into DevOps/SRE lifecycle

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

- Strong hands-on Dynatrace experience (APM, Infra, RUM, Synthetic, Logs)
- Expertise in OneAgent, Smartscape, PurePath, Davis AI
- Experience with cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Kubernetes/microservices
- Knowledge of observability frameworks (metrics, logs, traces, OpenTelemetry)

Other Skills

- Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
- Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery environments
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills

Experience Requirements

- 10+ years in monitoring / observability / SRE roles
- 3–5+ years hands-on Dynatrace experience
- Experience leading enterprise-scale observability implementations and migrations

Dynatrace certifications Associate preferred
