About the role

Specialist Event Medical Pty Ltd is proud to be launching an Emergency Care @ Home service covering Greater Melbourne suburbs.

The service will be unique in providing emergency care to patients, who would otherwise be attending an Emergency Department, in their homes. Wounds, infections, back pain, hyperemesis gravidarum and migraine are examples of typical cases. Mental health and drug and alcohol related presentations are excluded from this service.

Key responsibilities

- Provide emergency care to patients in their homes
- As a single clinician, you need to be comfortable preparing and delivering medications, performing blood tests (point of care) and ideally performing point of care ultrasound
- Assess and manage wounds, infections, back pain, hyperemesis gravidarum, migraine and other emergency presentations
- Determine the need for, and refer patients to, further investigations (pathology, radiology, etc)

- Determine the need for, and refer patients to, Emergency Department care, including via ambulance if necessary where care cannot be safely delivered in the patient's home. This includes maintaining observation of, and continuing to deliver care until the patient has been handed over to another clinician.

About you

- Minimum Intermediate Associateship in Emergency Medicine with ACEM
- Registrars in training stage 2 or higher
- Specialist Emergency Physicians
- General Practitioners with extensive emergency medicine experience
- Comfortable working as a single clinician
- Comfortable attending patient homes, including at night (last patient at 11pm - no overnight shifts)
- Comfortable navigating in and around Melbourne
