Lead 3D Designers – Civil & Structural and Electrical

About the Opportunity

Australian Drafting & Design Pty Ltd is seeking experienced Lead 3D Designers specialising in Civil & Structural (C&S;) and Electrical Design for immediate contract opportunities with one of our established engineering consultancy clients. We are looking for highly skilled design professionals who can take ownership of complex 3D design packages, coordinate multidisciplinary deliverables and provide technical leadership throughout the design and drafting process.

Previous experience in electrical substation design, including associated civil, structural and electrical infrastructure, will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and coordinate 3D design and drafting activities across Civil & Structural and Electrical disciplines.
- Develop and manage detailed 3D models, engineering drawings and associated design documentation.
- Produce high-quality 2D drawings extracted from 3D models.
- Review drawings and models to ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance with project specifications.
- Coordinate design interfaces with engineers, designers and other project disciplines.
- Identify and resolve design clashes, constructability issues and technical discrepancies.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other designers and drafters.
- Ensure design deliverables meet project deadlines, client requirements and applicable engineering standards.

Skills & Experience

To be successful, you will ideally demonstrate:
- Extensive experience in a senior or lead design role within an engineering consultancy or project environment.
- Strong proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.




- Demonstrated experience in 3D modelling and detailed engineering design.
- Experience working on industrial, infrastructure, resources or multidisciplinary engineering projects.
- Experience in electrical substation design, including substation layouts, equipment arrangements, foundations, structural steelwork and associated electrical infrastructure, will be considered a distinct advantage.
- Sound understanding of relevant engineering design standards and drafting practices.
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications, layouts and technical documentation.
- Excellent coordination, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple design deliverables.
- Previous experience leading design teams or coordinating multidisciplinary design packages will be highly regarded.
