About the Role

Lead an agile backend engineering team delivering cloud-native software products for a technology organisation in the critical infrastructure sector.

You’ll work closely with the Product Manager and technical stakeholders to turn product priorities into well-engineered outcomes.

This is a hands-on technical leadership opportunity, with a focus on team delivery, engineering quality and reliable systems. You’ll support engineers through coaching and technical direction while contributing to decisions around architecture, delivery practices and product outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing

- Lead an agile engineering team to deliver roadmap priorities and sprint outcomes.
- Provide technical direction for scalable, resilient and maintainable software.
- Partner with product and design stakeholders to balance customer needs, technical considerations and commercial priorities.
- Promote CI/CD, automation, test practices and continuous delivery.
- Support operational reliability through monitoring, risk management and continuous improvement.
- Mentor engineers and help build team capability.
- Contribute to technology strategy, architecture and engineering practices.

What You'll Need (Essential)





- Experience leading software engineering teams in agile, cross-functional or distributed product environments.
- Experience delivering cloud-native SaaS products and establishing DevOps, CI/CD, automation and continuous delivery practices.
- Strong software architecture experience, including designing scalable, resilient and maintainable solutions.
- Experience with cloud platforms, infrastructure automation, containerisation, monitoring and operational support.
- Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, distributed systems and modern software development practices.
- Experience with backend software development, ideally in .NET.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and mentoring skills, with a track record of developing effective teams.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent qualified experience.

Nice to Have

- Experience in a complex technology environment.
- Relevant certifications in cloud, software architecture, agile, DevOps or engineering leadership.

The Details

- Salary: $170,000 to $175,000 plus Superannuation
