Two Fixed Term Contract Product Support Engineer roles are available for a period of approximately 8 months, concluding 30 June 2027, with potential for extensions.

They are responsible for providing technical engineering services in support of the Australian Army's ASLAV and M1 Abrams based Heavy Armour platforms in Australia. The positions are based in Adelaide, and they report to the Operations Manager.

There are nil reports to these positions.

Responsibilities

- Lead technical problem solving activities and projects.
- Conduct technical investigations, initiated by customer request, maintenance activities, or failure analysis and corrective actions.
- Assist with assessment of suppliers/service providers.
- Contribute to the development and management of a technical support network.
- Identify,



develop and implement new processes and procedures for conducting engineering work.
- Develop and review documentation such as specifications, test procedures, maintenance instructions, drawings, defective material and engineering reports.
- Contribute to the development and management of the technical support network.
- Define and manage the work of assigned internal and external resources.
- Provide technical input for tenders.
- Provide professional engineering advice and authorisation within assigned technical delegations.
- Define and support engineering reviews.
- Provide support and advice to other areas of the business.
- Establish and maintain effective communications with GDLS-A personnel, customers, subcontractors and suppliers.

Job Qualifications

Essential

- Tertiary Qualifications in Mechanical / Mechatronic Engineering.
- Substantial experience working as an engineer in an engineering environment.
- Experience working within a Defence project setting.
- Experience in authoring technical investigations and problem reports.
- Experience in part substitution analysis and generation of Waiver/Deviation documentation.
- Current NV1 Australian Defence Security Clearance.
- ITAR cleared.
- Well developed interpersonal,



communication and team work skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and reports.
- Eligibility for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia.

Desirable
- Chartered Skilled Engineer from The Institution of Engineers Australia.
- Experience with systems engineering development lifecycle.
- Experience with mechanical design and development.
- Experience with CAD tools.
- Experience and knowledge of Abrams and ASLAV platforms.
- Experience and knowledge of the Land Materiel Safety Manual.
- Experience and knowledge of ITAR, Technical Assistance Agreements and trade compliance requirements and processes.
