About the role

This is a newly created role based in Smithfield, reporting to the Financial Controller, with regular visits to project sites across Greater Sydney. You'll own our purchasing end to end: pricing, suppliers, stock and PO control. You won't just process orders. You'll challenge them, asking why we're buying from Supplier A when Supplier B is cheaper, whether we already have the stock in our warehouse, and whether the purchase fits our cashflow.

Your goal is simple: reduce the cost of purchasing across the business and on every job.

Key responsibilities

- Build and maintain an internal price list for everything we purchase

- Negotiate directly with suppliers on pricing, terms and rebates, and manage trade and credit accounts

- Onboard new suppliers and review their pricing, delivery and quality performance

- Set up and run stock control in Simpro, including stocktakes and accurate stock records

- Make sure warehouse stock is used before recent stock is bought

- Review, approve or reject purchase orders, working closely with Project Managers and Site Supervisors

- Plan and order long-lead items such as panels, inverters and switchboards to meet project programmes

- Expedite orders and coordinate deliveries to site

- Manage returns, credit notes and warranty claims with suppliers





- Work with accounts to resolve invoice price and quantity discrepancies

About you

- 3+ years in purchasing, procurement or supply in construction, electrical, trades or a similar project-based business
- A proven record of negotiating with suppliers and delivering measurable savings

- Stock control experience, including stocktakes and stock records

- Experience with job management or ERP software (Simpro highly regarded) and Xero or similar

- Strong Excel skills

- Knowledge of electrical and solar materials and trade suppliers is a bonus

- Confident and assertive, comfortable saying no when a purchase doesn't stack up, while keeping good working relationships
