Position: Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic

About the Company

Staycool Refrigeration Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic to join our team in the Gladstone region, Queensland.

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, servicing, diagnosing and repairing a range of airconditioning and refrigeration systems across residential, commercial and industrial environments.

- Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, service and repair airconditioning and refrigeration systems and associated equipment.
- Inspect and diagnose faults in refrigeration and airconditioning systems, including electrical and mechanical components.
- Interpret technical drawings, specifications, wiring diagrams and manufacturer instructions to determine installation and repair requirements.
- Install and connect compressors, condensers, evaporators, motors, piping, ductwork and other refrigeration and airconditioning components.
- Test refrigeration and airconditioning systems to identify faults, refrigerant leaks and performance issues.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, including cleaning, inspecting, adjusting and replacing components as required.
- Repair or replace defective components, including compressors, motors, thermostats, valves, fans and electrical controls.




- Carry out pressure testing, leak detection, evacuation and refrigerant charging in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Test and adjust systems to ensure correct operating temperatures, pressures, airflow and energy efficiency.
- Install, commission and maintain commercial refrigeration equipment, including cool rooms, freezers, refrigerated cabinets and associated systems.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant Australian Standards, workplace health and safety requirements and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate service records, maintenance reports and documentation of repairs and installations.
- Liaise with customers to identify technical issues, explain required repairs and provide professional advice on equipment maintenance.
- Ensure tools, equipment and work areas are maintained in a protected and efficient condition.

Qualifications and Experience To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

- Minimum AQF Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration or a relevant equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 12 months of relevant full-time work experience as an Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic.
- Demonstrated experience in installing, maintaining,



diagnosing and repairing refrigeration and airconditioning systems.
- Sound knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, mechanical components and fault-finding procedures.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and equipment specifications.
- Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and workplace health and safety procedures.
- Relevant refrigerant handling licence and applicable occupational licences or registrations, as required for the duties performed.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to provide professional customer service.

Salary and Benefits

- Annual Salary: $80,000 plus superannuation
