About the role

Join The Rehabilitation Specialists (TRS) Canberra team as an occupational therapist, physiotherapist, exercise physiologist, psychologist, rehabilitation counsellor or registered nurse. You will help people recover from injury, return to work and build independence, with the support of an experienced multidisciplinary team. Your caseload will combine compensation, return-to-work and rehabilitation referrals, with a growing emphasis on rehabilitation as that work expands.

Referrals are matched to your discipline, experience and scope of practice, so you can develop breadth without losing the skills you have worked hard to build. You may work across Comcare, workers' compensation and CTP referrals, alongside non-compensation and rehabilitation services.

Key responsibilities

- Take a holistic, person-centred approach to recovery, considering each client's health, function, work and everyday goals.
- Conduct discipline-specific assessments, which may include functional capacity, workplace, ergonomic and vocational assessments, within your qualifications and scope of practice.
- Develop and coordinate tailored rehabilitation and return-to-work plans with practical, measurable goals.
- Manage your caseload, write clear reports, maintain timely case notes and review plans as each client's needs and work capacity change.
- Build effective relationships with clients, treating practitioners, employers, insurers, support coordinators and families, as appropriate.
- Support clients to improve functional capacity, independence and participation in work and daily life.
- Contribute to team meetings, clinical case reviews and shared learning, with opportunities to develop mentoring or leadership skills as you progress.

About you

- A tertiary qualification in occupational therapy, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, psychology, rehabilitation counselling or nursing.
- Current professional credentials relevant to your discipline: AHPRA registration for occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists and registered nurses; ESSA accreditation as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist; or an appropriate rehabilitation counselling qualification with ASORC membership or eligibility for the relevant membership category.
- Strong assessment, clinical or vocational reasoning and report-writing skills, with transparent, professional communication.
- A compassionate, practical approach and the ability to build relationships with people from different backgrounds.
- The organisation and initiative to manage a caseload with increasing independence, while seeking supervision when needed.
- A current driver's licence, willingness to travel around Canberra and access to a reliable vehicle when pool vehicles are unavailable.
- A suitable, private home workspace if you will be working from home, and the ability to meet screening requirements relevant to your caseload.
- Experience in workers' compensation, insurance, workplace rehabilitation, vocational counselling, adjustment-to-disability counselling or government settings is highly regarded,

but occupational rehabilitation experience is not essential for a clinician with transferable skills and a willingness to learn.

Benefits

- A competitive package: $90,000–$110,000 base salary plus super, depending on experience, pro rata for part-time hours, with additional bonus opportunities subject to the applicable TRS framework and eligibility criteria.
- Flexibility that supports life outside work: full-time or part-time options and flexible arrangements, including working from home where suitable for your induction, caseload and client commitments.
- Development with direction: a personalised development plan, CPD allowance, training leave, clinical supervision, mentoring and regular case reviews.
- Room to progress: build specialist expertise or work towards senior consulting, subject matter expert or leadership opportunities, based on your interests, capability and available roles.
- The tools and support to do your work well: a laptop and iPhone, established systems, administrative support and access to pool vehicles.
- A sustainable working environment: realistic caseloads and KPIs, a supportive team that values quality service and wellbeing, and birthday leave.
