I’m Sam, owner of Old Mate Electrical in Kurrajong. It’s just me on the tools at the moment and I’m looking for the first full-time sparky to help build the business with.

We’re not a volume shop. I don’t want anyone smashing out as many jobs as possible in a day. Every job gets our best effort, and we give it the time it needs to be done properly. Have a look at our Google reviews to see what our customers think.

What the work looks like

There’s a lot of variety, so you won’t get bored:

- Renovations and extensions: kitchens, bathrooms, bedroom additions
- Everyday domestic work: power points, lighting upgrades, switchboard upgrades, fault finding, hot water repairs, data and TV
- Service and maintenance for homes and light commercial clients
- Light commercial testing and reporting: thermography, switchboard testing, solar maintenance
- The odd solar and battery install (only one or two a month, we know how hard that work is on the body)

How we work The day starts in Kurrajong. We load up, get rid of any rubbish and have a quick catch-up before heading out, so everyone knows the plan and nobody’s guessing. You’ll be trusted to run jobs on your own without someone looking over your shoulder.

If something’s going on, at work or at home, I want to hear about it. I’m on the tools too, so I get it.



Family comes first and I’d rather we talk about things than have you stress about them.

- $50-$60/hr + super, full time with RDOs
- Fully decked-out Ford Transit with fuel card and personal use

- A clean, organised, well-stocked van, so you’re not running to the wholesaler all day
- A real say in how the business grows. As we build the team, I want my sparkies involved in quoting their own jobs and rewarded for it, plus regular team days out

Who we’re looking for
- Licensed A-grade electrician
- Solid fault-finding skills and domestic service experience
- Confident and friendly with customers. You’ll be the face of Old Mate on site
- Takes pride in the details and leaves every site clean
- Owns it when something goes wrong and learns from it. We all make mistakes, it’s what you do next that counts
- Doesn’t cut corners and doesn’t rush to get out the door
- Hawkesbury local a big plus
- Current NSW driver’s licence
