We are seeking a Specialist Medical Receptionist to join the Illawarra Heart Centre in Shellharbour, NSW. This is a position that plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient experiences and supporting the smooth operation of our specialist cardiology services. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will be instrumental in maintaining the professional standards and efficient operations that our centre is known for. Your role will directly contribute to patient satisfaction, clinical efficiency and the overall success of our heart centre.

What you'll be doing

- Greeting and welcoming patients with warmth and professionalism, ensuring a positive first impression
- Managing patient check-in and check-out procedures, including verification of personal details and relevant medical information
- Scheduling and coordinating patient appointments
- Processing payments and managing medical account transactions accurately and confidently
- Answering telephone enquiries and directing calls appropriately to clinical and administrative staff
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with healthcare privacy legislation
- Preparing medical files and ensuring all necessary documentation is available prior to patient consultations
- Supporting the clinical team by facilitating communication between patients and healthcare professionals
- Handling patient correspondence and follow-up requests with care and attention to detail
- Assisting with general administrative tasks including data entry, filing and office organisation

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working in a medical reception or healthcare administration environment is highly regarded
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, healthcare professionals and staff
- Strong organisational and time management abilities,



with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a busy setting
- Proficiency with medical practice management software and electronic health record systems
- Competence with Microsoft Office applications and general computer literacy
- Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of healthcare practice operations
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and compliance with healthcare privacy regulations
- A compassionate approach to patient care with strong interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all administrative functions
- Experience in a cardiology or specialist heart centre environment would be highly valued
