We’re partnering with a growing technology business looking for a Senior Backend Developer to help evolve and scale its digital platform.

You’ll join a small, collaborative engineering team and work closely with the CTO on a range of technical challenges. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on development, solving complex problems and having a real say in how software is built.

The role

- Build and enhance the backend systems that support a high-traffic digital platform.
- Design and develop APIs and services using Kotlin.
- Help shape technical decisions around architecture, performance and system reliability.
- Work with PostgreSQL to support data-intensive applications and improve database efficiency.
- Develop integrations with external platforms and services.
- Take features from initial ideas through to release, monitoring and ongoing improvement.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing systems, processes and ways of working.

What you’ll bring

- Solid commercial experience in backend software development, ideally 5+ years.
- Robust experience with Kotlin or Java, and an interest in working predominantly with Kotlin.




- A track record of delivering production-grade software in a commercial environment.
- Good knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, and confidence working with complex SQL.
- Experience with cloud-based applications and modern deployment practices.
- An understanding of how to build dependable systems that can handle growth and changing demands.
- A practical, hands-on mindset and the confidence to work through problems without needing constant direction.
- The ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and work well with a close-knit team.
