Automate, patch and secure a large government estate on-site in Canberra.

Kestrel Eight is an award-winning DevOps, Advanced Red Hat and IBM consulting firm. We are building a delivery team of senior engineers for a large platform program in Canberra. Contracts run for 12 months from 1 December 2026, with extensions likely on several roles and a path to permanent employment.

The work and ops

- Senior Linux / RHEL Engineer: keep a large, change-controlled estate patched, secure and current, with Satellite, SOEs and Identity Management
- Ansible Automation Engineer: build RHEL 8 and 9 patching automation and Essential Eight compliance on Ansible Automation Platform
- OpenShift and OpenShift Virtualisation Engineer: run and grow enterprise container platforms and move workloads off legacy virtualisation (Canberra-based or remote)
- OpenStack Engineer: sustain RHOSP 17 and 18 at scale as the estate shifts toward OpenShift (Canberra-based or remote)
- Automation Architect: set automation standards and strategy across the agency (part time)

Also seeking people with a mix of the following

- DevOps and container platform engineers: OpenShift, CI/CD, GitOps, container registries (Harbor, Artifactory, Quay or similar), image scanning and signing
- Security automation engineers: automating security operations and compliance work




- Red Hat Certified Engineers and Architects (RHCE, RHCA)
- Linux platform engineers across RHEL 7, 8 and 9
- OpenShift, OpenStack and DevOps engineers: OpenShift, OpenStack, CI/CD, GitOps, container registries (Harbor, Artifactory, Quay or similar), image scanning and signing
- Essential Eight and ISM compliance automation useful
