About the team

Utilities Systems Intelligence is part of Utilities Network Operations within Infrastructure Gold Coast. You'll report to the Coordinator Utilities Systems Intelligence, working under general direction with some autonomy. The role works closely with Network Operations and takes part in its after-hours on-call roster, with the analytics side coordinated through Utilities Systems Intelligence. You'll also work with Water Operations, Asset Management, Planning and Engineering.

About the role

The Network Engineering Officer is responsible for supporting the City’s water networks by investigating network performance and identifying practical improvement opportunities.

The role has a primary focus on water loss and pressure management, using engineering analysis, field investigations, SCADA, PI and OT data and analytics to support the Branch Strategy objective to stay ahead of the network, including the Digital Twin Program’s operational models and analytics.

The position also develops practical tools, guidance and information that assist Network Operations to operate the water network safely, consistently and efficiently.

This position is required to participate in the Network Operations after-hours on-call roster, as a backup resource for the supervisor on-call roster.

This position is classified as a security-sensitive critical infrastructure position, and the successful candidate will be required to undertake a SOCI Act background check.

We’re looking for people who have:

- Advanced Diploma in Engineering or equivalent knowledge and/or relevant experience
- Experience working with operational data, such as SCADA or PI, and turning it into practical insight is highly regarded
- Class C (car) driver's licence (mandatory)
- Excellent time management and analytical thinking skills with a focus on the City’s internal and external customers
- A demonstrated commitment to safety
- Strong communication, consultation and stakeholder-management skills
- The ability to build and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
