The Cooper family is seeking an experienced Broadacre Farm Worker for a full-time position based in Yarrawonga, Victoria 3730, with regular work also undertaken across the family’s broadacre farming properties.

The role supports the production of cereal, oilseed and legume crops across multiple farming sites. The employee will be required to travel between properties as reasonably required in the course of their employment.

This is a practical, hands-on cropping role involving crop establishment, cultivation, fertilising, spraying, harvesting and the operation of agricultural machinery throughout the cropping cycle. The successful applicant will work as part of the broader farming team and will also be required to work independently across different farm sites.

Key Responsibilities

● Prepare land and soil for broadacre crop production using tractors and agricultural machinery.

● Plant and establish cereal, oilseed and legume crops using seeders and other farm machinery.

● Operate farm machinery to cultivate, fertilise, spray and harvest crops.

● Operate and maintain a self-propelled sprayer for the application of herbicides, pesticides, fungicides and other agricultural chemicals.

● Apply fertilisers and other crop treatments as required throughout the growing cycle.

● Monitor crops for weed growth, pests, disease and other issues affecting crop health and production.

● Undertake weed control and general crop maintenance activities.





● Assist with irrigation activities where required to support crop growth.

● Operate harvesting machinery and assist with the collection, handling and storage of harvested grain and produce.

● Grade, sort and handle harvested produce where required.

● Load grain and other harvested produce for transport or storage.

● Clean, service and undertake routine maintenance of tractors, sprayers, harvesters and other agricultural machinery.

● Identify and assist with basic mechanical faults and repairs to farm machinery and equipment.

● Maintain accurate records relating to spraying, fertiliser application, seeding, harvesting and other crop production activities.

● Assist with general farm maintenance and other hands-on duties associated with broadacre crop production.

Minimum Skills, Experience and Qualifications

The successful applicant must have:

● A minimum of 12 months’ relevant full-time work experience in broadacre farming, grain, oilseed, pulse or pasture production, or another closely related cropping role.

● Demonstrated experience operating agricultural machinery such as tractors, seeders, spreaders, sprayers and harvesting equipment.

● Practical experience in crop establishment, cultivation, fertilising, spraying and harvesting activities.





● Experience in the secure handling and application of agricultural chemicals.

● Knowledge of broadacre crop production practices and the ability to identify weeds, pests, disease and other crop health issues.

● Mechanical aptitude and practical experience undertaking routine servicing and basic maintenance of agricultural machinery and equipment.

● The ability to work independently and as part of a farming team.

● The ability to undertake physically demanding outdoor work and work additional hours during peak seeding, spraying and harvesting periods.

● A current driver licence appropriate for the duties of the position.

Applicants should also hold either:

● a relevant AQF Certificate II or higher qualification in agriculture, rural operations, cropping or a closely related field; or

● sufficient relevant work experience to demonstrate the practical skills and competencies required for the role.

Work Location

The employee’s primary work location will be Yarrawonga, Victoria 3730.

A work vehicle will be provided for work-related travel. Accommodation may also be available.
