RJE Global is seeking an experienced full time Primary Engineer to support the design and delivery of major substations, renewable energy developments and critical power infrastructure projects across Australia.

You will join a team-oriented engineering team working across large scale Battery Energy Storage Systems, wind farms, substations, utilities and resources projects

About the role

As a Primary Engineer, you will produce high quality, construction ready engineering designs for substation and power system projects.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Preparing greenfield and brownfield substation layouts up to 500 kilovolts, including elevations and sections
- Preparing single line diagrams and busbar arrangements
- Undertaking fittings, busbar selection and short circuit force calculations
- Completing insulation coordination, including surge arrester and insulation selection
- Selecting primary equipment and preparing equipment lists and technical specifications
- Preparing transformer, Gas Insulated Switchgear and Air Insulated Switchgear specifications
- Preparing primary system cable sizing reports and high voltage and medium voltage cable schedules
- Completing earthing and lightning protection calculations, drawings and reports
- Conducting and participating in engineering design reviews
- Reviewing designs to ensure compliance with relevant standards, utility requirements and engineering practices
- Supporting the RJE Global Quality Management System
- Providing technical input into tender submissions
- Developing and maintaining standard engineering drawings and documentation
- Providing technical guidance, mentoring and training to junior engineering team members

Qualifications and experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent relevant qualification
- A minimum of five years’ relevant primary engineering experience
- Demonstrated experience in high voltage substation and power system design




- Experience working within an engineering, procurement and construction environment
- Strong knowledge of Australian standards and power utility requirements
- Membership, or eligibility for membership, with Engineers Australia
- Chartered Professional Engineer status, or progress towards obtaining it, will be highly regarded
- Strong technical writing, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- The ability to work collaboratively across engineering, project and construction teams
