Majuba Bistro is looking for an experienced Chef to join and lead our small kitchen team in Albany, Western Australia.

We are seeking a capable, hands-on all-rounder who enjoys quality food, busy service and working as part of a close-knit team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced chef who is confident in the kitchen, enjoys taking ownership and is looking for a long-term role in one of Western Australia’s most beautiful regional locations.

Majuba is a busy local bistro with a strong focus on good food, warm hospitality and consistency. The role would suit someone who is equally comfortable leading a service, contributing to menus, managing the day-to-day kitchen operation and getting stuck in alongside the team.

The role

You will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen, including:

- Leading and supporting a small kitchen team
- Managing busy lunch and dinner services
- Maintaining consistently high standards of food and presentation
- Contributing to menu development and seasonal specials
- Ordering, stock control and supplier management
- Monitoring food costs, wastage and kitchen efficiencies
- Maintaining food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards
- Supporting rostering and the organisation of kitchen operations
- Working closely with the owners and front-of-house team

This is a hands-on role and would suit someone who enjoys being on the tools and leading by example.

About you





We are looking for someone with solid experience in a quality restaurant, bistro or similar workplace.

You will ideally have:

- Strong practical cooking skills across all sections
- Experience managing or taking a senior role in a busy kitchen
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- An understanding of food costing, stock control and kitchen operations
- A calm and reliable approach during busy service
- The ability to work collaboratively within a small team
- Pride in producing consistently good food
- A positive, practical attitude and strong work ethic

You may currently be a Head Chef, Sous Chef or experienced senior Chef looking for a role with greater responsibility.
