Nursery Manager Position

We are seeking a practical, hands-on Nursery Manager to lead our production operations. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, plant propagation, and the high-quality production of local provenance species to support regional revegetation, landscaping, and biodiversity projects.

You will manage a small team (which may include casual staff and dedicated community volunteers), while driving wholesale or retail sales to support our environmental mission.

Key Responsibilities

- Nursery Operations & Production: Oversee plant propagation (seed collection, division, and cutting), biosecurity, pest management, and strict hygiene protocols of indigenous flora.
- Stock & Inventory Management: Maintain meticulous records for seed tracking, provenance, and stock forecasting .
- Leadership & Collaboration: Lead, mentor, and organise casual staff, volunteers, work experience placements and local community volunteer workforces.
- Sales & Admin: Manage orders, quoting, and client relationships for local councils, landscaping contractors, wholesale retail buyers.




- Safety & Compliance: Enforce robust Work Health & Safety (WHS) practices across outdoor and greenhouse environments.

Skills & Qualifications

- Experience: 3–5+ years of experience working in production nurseries, ideally with specific knowledge of local native plants, ecological restoration, or tube stock production.
- Horticultural Knowledge: Strong understanding of endemic soil requirements, native seed treatment, and pest management.
- Qualifications: Certificate III / IV or Diploma in Horticulture, Nursery Operations, or Conservation & Ecosystem Management.
- Leadership Style: Patient, community-minded, and organised, with a track record of supervising diverse teams or volunteers.
- Physical Fitness: Able to handle the physical demands of an outdoor nursery workplace (lifting, potting, and sorting)
