Based in Wangaratta, Alpine MDF is one of regional Victoria’s largest and most advanced manufacturing operations, employing over 140 people and supplying MDF products to domestic and international markets.

About the role

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this role supports the planning and coordination needed to keep our manufacturing operation supplied and production schedules up to date.

You will work across purchasing administration, supplier follow-up, resin and wax requirements planning, inventory information and production scheduling support. You will also assist with dispatch administration and maintain the knowledge needed to provide logistics backup during busy periods and leave coverage.

Structured training will be provided in Alpine’s systems, materials planning and production scheduling processes. As your competency develops, you will independently complete routine calculations, purchasing tasks, draft schedules and reporting within agreed requirements.

Working with Production, Warehouse, suppliers and freight providers, you will help maintain accurate information, identify potential shortages and keep supply chain activities on track.

This role will suit someone with relevant supply chain, purchasing, inventory or operational administration experience who wants to broaden their capability in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

- Coordinate routine purchasing administration for approved production materials, including resins, waxes and assigned consumables.
- Raise purchase orders within approved requirements and company purchasing procedures.
- Monitor supplier acknowledgements,

delivery dates and outstanding orders, following up delays and supply issues.
- Maintain supplier schedules, purchasing records and raw material inventory information.
- Monitor stock and forecast positions and raise potential material shortages with the Supply Chain Manager.
- Following training, calculate routine resin and wax requirements and coordinate supplier delivery follow-up.
- Assist with preparing and maintaining production schedules for Press Production, DIY Panels and Mouldings.
- Maintain accurate planning, purchasing and inventory data within the ERP system and associated tools.
- Prepare routine planning reports, forecasts and information for production scheduling meetings.
- Assist with end-of-month production reporting and inventory reconciliation.
- Provide dispatch administration support, including freight bookings, load sheets, ERP transactions and delivery documentation.
- Verify freight invoices, investigate discrepancies and refer approvals through the appropriate process.
- Check or coordinate verification of loads for product, quantity, accuracy and safe loading requirements when supporting dispatch.
- Maintain work instructions and contribute to practical supply chain improvements.

What you’ll bring

- Experience or demonstrated capability in supply chain, purchasing, production planning, inventory, logistics or a related administrative or operational role.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work accurately with stock information, calculations,

schedules and business records.
- Experience using an ERP or similar business system, or the ability to develop these skills through training.
- Good organisation and follow-up skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Explicit communication skills and confidence working with suppliers and internal operational teams.
- A practical approach to identifying problems and raising issues before they affect production or deliveries.
- A willingness to learn manufacturing processes, materials planning and production scheduling.
- A commitment to safe working practices and following approved purchasing and operating procedures.

Experience in manufacturing or a role involving purchasing, stock control or production coordination would be well regarded.

Previous experience with resin and wax planning is not essential. Training will be provided, with independent responsibilities introduced as competency is demonstrated.

Working arrangements

This is a site-based position combining planning and administration with regular interaction across production, warehouse and dispatch operations.

The role’s main focus is supply chain planning and procurement support, with dispatch assistance provided as required. The Supply Chain Manager will coordinate priorities where operational demands overlap.

Why join Alpine MDF
