Senior Data Governance Specialist Contract
Sydney | 4 to 5 days per week (with 3 days in office) | Long-term contract
We are partnering with a leading Australian enterprise seeking an experienced Senior Data Governance Specialist to support a large-scale Finance Data Governance enablement program.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in operationalising and embedding established data governance frameworks across a complex enterprise environment, helping build governance capability across data domains and data products.
The Role Working closely with the broader Data Management function and existing Data Steward, you will focus on implementing practical data governance processes, improving metadata management and enabling data quality controls.
Key responsibilities include:

- Operationalise and embed existing data governance frameworks and processes.
- Establish and support Data Governance guilds and stakeholder forums.
- Populate and maintain business metadata for key data assets using Collibra.
- Ensure relevant technical metadata is captured and maintained.
- Support the implementation of data quality controls and processes.
- Enable data issue management and change management processes across data and analytics assets.
- Collaborate with data owners, stewards and technical teams to drive governance adoption.




- Support governance capability development across the data domain and data product roadmap.

About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Strong hands-on data governance experience within a large, complex organisation.
- Demonstrated experience operationalising and embedding data governance frameworks.
- Deep understanding and practical experience using Collibra.
- Strong experience in business metadata management and technical metadata.
- Solid understanding of data quality principles, controls and issue management.
- Experience working with data owners, stewards and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate governance requirements into practical business processes.

Highly regarded:

- Experience with Ataccama or similar data quality tools.
- Previous experience supporting Finance data domains.
- Experience establishing governance guilds or communities of practice.
- Exposure to data product governance and enterprise data management programs.
