About the role:
Rombola Family Farms is seeking for Irrigationist and Irrigationist Assistant for its operations in Griffith in NSW, Bundaberg in QLD, Mataranka and Douglas-Daly in the NT.
Irrigationist
This Irrigationist will report to Irrigation Manager and to ensure that Rombola Family Farms irrigation systems are operated efficiently and in accordance with the company schedule. The position requires to maintain and repair irrigation systems including replacing valves, fan belts, switches, and contacts.
Key accountabilities include:
- Turns irrigation systems on and off as designated.
- Repairs and replaces hoses, pipes, and numerous types of sprinkler heads and fixtures.
- Operates timers, clocks, and controls for sprinklers.
- Replaces or repairs irrigation valves.
- Installs or repairs irrigation lines.
- May assist in various maintenance activities as required.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Able to supervise a team which may vary from 2 (two) to 10 (ten) ground workers.
Irrigationist Assistant
The role of the Irrigationist Assistant is to support & assist the Irrigationist so that Rombola Family Farms irrigation system is operated efficiently and in accordance with the company schedule.
Key accountabilities include:
- Assist the Irrigationist in operating irrigation systems as designated & scheduled.
- Operate timers, clocks, and controls for sprinklers.
- Daily check irrigation lines and pumping systems.
- May assist in various maintenance activities as required. Also, may repair and replace hoses, pipes, and numerous types of sprinkler heads and fixtures.
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
- At least two years related experience and may have, or be undertaking, AQF Certificate I, or compulsory secondary education.
- Ability to install, operate, troubleshoot, and repair manual and/or computerized irrigation systems.
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
- Ability to perform irrigation tasks such as operate timers, clocks, and controls for sprinklers.
- Knowledge of manual and/or computerized irrigation systems.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Initiative and integrity.
- Team player.
- Punctual.
- Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets.
- A current driver’s licence

- For Irrigationist, the salary range between $75,000 – $90,000.
- For Irrigationist Assistant, the salary range between $$70,000 – $85,000
