Financial Controller | Confidential Opportunity | Sydney | $170,000-$200,000 + Super + Bonus

We are partnering with a highly regarded private organisation to appoint a Financial Controller into a small, collaborative finance team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to take ownership of a broad finance function, with exposure across financial reporting, tax, compliance, cash management and investment administration. Offering a varied remit and close access to senior leadership, this position is ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their career and make a meaningful contribution.

Reporting to a senior leader, you will oversee day-to-day financial operations, bring accounting activities in-house and drive improvements across systems, processes and reporting. With a high level of autonomy and ongoing support from an experienced mentor, this role offers the opportunity to shape the finance function and grow with the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

* Oversee end-to-end accounting, including month-end close and reconciliations using Xero
* Lead the transition of accounting activities from external providers in-house
* Manage cash flow, liquidity and day-to-day transactional finance
* Prepare statutory financial statements for consolidated groups and individual entities
* Produce and enhance regular management reporting and board packs
* Coordinate tax compliance, external audits and regulatory reporting
* Manage compliance with ASIC, ACNC and other relevant requirements
* Oversee investment administration, including capital calls, subscriptions,



redemptions and reconciliations
* Assist with investment analysis, due diligence and financial reviews
* Build strong relationships with external advisers and key stakeholders
* Contribute to wider operational requirements within a small, hands-on team

About You

* CA/CPA qualified with strong end-to-end accounting experience
* Background in Business Services, a family office or a Finance Manager/Financial Controller role
* Open to Senior Managers from Business Services seeking their first move into industry
* Alternatively, an experienced second mover with established commercial or standalone finance experience
* Strong technical accounting skills across financial reporting, tax and compliance
* Confident communicator who can translate financial information for non-finance stakeholders
* Commercially minded, proactive and comfortable working autonomously
* High levels of integrity, discretion and attention to detail
* Ambitious and solutions-focused, with the ability to step up and provide senior-level support when required
* Previous experience with Xero will be advantageous
