Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) is seeking an organised and proactive Project Officer to support the delivery of nationally significant initiatives that are helping shape the future of vocational education and training in Australia.

Working across National TAFE Network projects, including the Reimagining Skills Recognition initiative and other national programs hosted by CIT, this role provides the governance, coordination and operational support that enables complex projects to succeed. From secretariat support and stakeholder coordination through to reporting, recruitment, procurement and project administration, the role plays a critical part in keeping delivery on track.

This is an opportunity to contribute to work that has impact both within CIT and across the broader TAFE sector. The successful candidate will work closely with project leads, educators and stakeholders, supporting initiatives that are developing new approaches to skills recognition, educator capability and workforce development.

We are seeking someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys bringing order to complexity and can manage competing priorities while maintaining excellent attention to detail. The role would suit an individual who is curious, adaptable and motivated by the chance to contribute to reforms that improve outcomes for learners, educators and industry.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

Mandatory Requirements:

- Experience providing project, governance, executive support, program coordination or secretariat services.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain high-quality administrative and governance processes.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

- Qualifications in project management, business administration or a related field.
- Experience supporting governance committees, boards or advisory groups.
- Experience maintaining records management, reporting or project management systems.
- Experience supporting recruitment, procurement,

events or stakeholder engagement activities.
- Deep experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint and contemporary project management tools.
- Knowledge of the VET sector or a demonstrated ability and desire to quickly understand complex education environments.

Note: This is a temporary position available immediately until 31 December 2028 with the possibility of permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.

How to Apply:

Please provide:

- A tailored curriculum vitae (maximum three pages).
- A statement of suitability (maximum two pages) addressing the Professional and Personal Characteristics outlined in the Position Description.

Applicants are encouraged to focus on examples that demonstrate their relevant skills and experience and avoid duplicating information already contained in their curriculum vitae.

We’d love to hear from you - we encourage prospective candidates to contact Angela Ryan ([email protected]) to discuss the role and the Research Centre.

Applications should be submitted via the Apply Now button below.

Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the efficient administration of the service.

Where an offer of employment is for a fixed-term period, any related temporary contracts within the Territory will be issued in compliance with the requirements and applicable exceptions outlined in the Fair Work Act.

The ACT public service is committed to closing the gap, underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved. More information can be found here ACT Closing the Gap Implementation Plan - ACT Government Transparency Portal.
