Bertas is a busy neighbourhood deli in the heart of Marrickville, serving quality sandwiches, specialty coffee and good food in a fast-paced, welcoming environment. We're a growing business with a strong focus on quality, consistency and genuine hospitality. As we continue to develop and expand, we're looking for an experienced and motivated Venue Manager to take ownership of our Marrickville location and help drive the business forward.

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Venue Manager who can confidently lead our team, oversee daily operations and maintain the high standards we've built at Bertas. This is an operational leadership role, suited to someone who enjoys being on the floor, working alongside their team and taking responsibility for the overall performance of a busy hospitality venue.

You'll be responsible for ensuring the business runs efficiently, the team is supported and accountable, and every customer receives a consistently great experience.

We're looking for someone who takes initiative, has strong attention to detail and genuinely cares about the business they're managing.

Key Responsibilities

- Take ownership of the day-to-day operations of Bertas Marrickville.
- Lead, motivate and develop our front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
- Maintain high standards of customer service, food quality, presentation and cleanliness.
- Manage staff rostering, labour costs and daily operational efficiency.
- Oversee stock management, ordering, inventory control and waste reduction.
- Recruit, onboard and train new team members.
- Establish clear expectations, provide feedback and maintain accountability across the team.
- Work closely with kitchen leadership to ensure efficient service and strong communication between FOH and BOH.
- Monitor business performance,



identify opportunities for improvement and implement practical solutions.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety, and relevant operational requirements.
- Work closely with the owner to continually improve systems, procedures and the overall performance of the venue.

About You

We're looking for someone who:
- Has proven experience managing a busy cafe, restaurant or similar hospitality venue.
- Is a confident, hands-on leader who leads by example.
- Has barista experience and worked with specialty coffee.
- Has a valuable understanding of kitchen operations, food preparation and service workflows.
- Understands labour management, rostering, stock control and the financial fundamentals of running a hospitality business.
- Is organised, proactive and capable of managing competing priorities.
- Communicates clearly and confidently with both staff and customers.
- Can make decisions independently, solve problems and take ownership of outcomes.
- Is passionate about developing people and eager to help shape a positive, accountable team culture.
- Takes pride in the finer details and consistently works to improve the business.
