We are seeking an experienced Steel Detailer / Construction Draftsperson to join our client's team in the steel fabrication and construction industry. The ideal candidate will have robust technical drafting skills, hands-on experience using Tekla Structures, and the ability to conduct site measurements and basic surveying works.

This role involves preparing accurate steel fabrication and erection drawings, interpreting structural and architectural plans, and coordinating with engineers, project managers, fabricators, and site personnel to ensure projects are delivered accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings using Tekla Structures.
- Produce structural steel shop drawings, erection drawings, and connection details.
- Interpret engineering drawings, architectural plans, and project specifications.
- Conduct site visits to perform measurements, verify existing site conditions, and collect relevant dimensions.
- Carry out basic surveying and site set-out measurements as required.
- Verify dimensions and identify discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, workshop personnel, and construction teams.
- Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, applicable Australian Standards, and quality requirements.
- Revise drawings based on engineering changes, site measurements, and client feedback.




- Maintain accurate documentation and meet project deadlines.

Skills and Experience

- Proven experience as a Steel Detailer, Structural Steel Draftsperson, or Construction Draftsperson.
- Strong working knowledge of Tekla Structures is essential.
- Experience preparing structural steel fabrication and erection drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret structural engineering and architectural drawings.
- Practical experience conducting site measurements and basic surveying works.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes and construction methodologies.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in dimensions, modelling, and documentation.
- Good communication, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team.

Desirable Qualifications

- Certificate, Diploma, or degree in Drafting, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience working with steel fabrication or structural steel construction companies.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and other relevant drafting software.
- Knowledge of Australian construction standards and steel detailing practices.
- Experience using basic surveying equipment and measurement tools.

Pay: $35.00 – $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38.0 per week
