About the role
McConnell Dowell is seeking an experienced Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join our team supporting an upcoming major civil infrastructure project in metropolitan Adelaide. Joining as the project builds towards delivery, you’ll bring robust technical health and safety experience to the project, providing trusted advice across construction activities and supporting the effective management of critical risks. Working closely with project management and construction teams, you’ll maintain a strong field presence while taking a broader view of risk, assurance, compliance and continuous improvement across the project.

Key responsibilities
• Provide senior HSE advice across construction activities, with a focus on complex and high-risk work.
• Review risk registers, facilitate risk assessment workshops and support the implementation of effective risk controls.
• Conduct safety audits, assurance activities and incident investigations, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, project requirements, management plans and subcontractor safety standards.
• Maintain accurate HSE records and reporting in HammerTech, including incidents, hazards, inspections, audits and corrective actions.
• Support return-to-work plans, review site practices and drive continuous improvement in safety performance and culture across the project. About you You’ll be an experienced health and safety professional with a strong construction background and the confidence to operate across both the field and broader project environment. You will bring:
• Minimum 7 years’ operational HSE experience within the construction industry.




• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management and high-risk construction activities.
• Proven experience in incident investigations, complex risk assessments and safety assurance.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to provide practical safety advice.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with HammerTech or similar HSE management system experience highly regarded Why join us?
