About us
Blended Cafe is a busy specialty coffee and brunch café at 95 Grenfell Street, Adelaide SA 5000, operated by V&C; Brewing Pty Ltd. We serve breakfast, brunch and lunch to the CBD’s corporate and city crowd. We are seeking an experienced Cook to prepare, season and cook food in our café kitchen on a full time basis.
Key duties
- Examine foodstuffs on receipt and during preparation to ensure quality and freshness
- Regulate the temperatures of ovens, grills, cooktops and other cooking equipment
- Prepare and cook breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes according to recipes and menu standards
- Season food during cooking to achieve consistent flavour
- Portion food, plate dishes, and add sauces, dressings and garnishes for presentation
- Store food in temperature-controlled facilities and monitor storage conditions
- Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements, including allergen-free, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options
- Plan menus and specials, and estimate food requirements and quantities
- Train and guide kitchen hands and other junior kitchen staff
- Maintain kitchen hygiene and food safety
Skills and experience
- Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent relevant qualification.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Sound knowledge of food safety, HACCP principles and allergen management
- Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods
- Good communication skills and a strong team approach
- Available to work a roster that includes Saturdays
What we offer
- Full-time position, 38 hours per week
- Salary: $80,000 – $85,000 per annum plus superannuation
- Daytime hours with no late-night shifts
- Central CBD location close to public transport
