Outdoor & Camping Equipment Hire Assistant

Hike Hire | Maylands | Flexible Hours

Hike Hire is looking for a friendly, reliable and organised person who is familiar with camping and hiking to join our small team in Maylands.

This is an ongoing, hands-on role combining customer service, booking administration and preparing hiking and camping equipment for hire. Flexible working hours are available, with days and hours to be discussed with the successful applicant.

Key responsibilities

- Assist customers with equipment collections and returns.
- Check returned gear for cleanliness, damage and missing items.
- Clean, dry and pack equipment ready for its next hire.
- Prepare hire bookings, ensuring all equipment is complete and ready on time.
- Process security deposit refunds in accordance with company procedures.
- Answer phone calls and respond to customer enquiries.
- Create and update bookings using our booking system.
- Explain equipment use and care to customers.
- Keep equipment storage and work areas tidy and organised.
- Report equipment damage, maintenance needs and missing items.

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

- Has camping and hiking experience and is familiar with the equipment involved.
- Is friendly,



approachable and confident helping customers.
- Is reliable, organised and pays attention to detail.
- Is comfortable working independently and taking initiative.
- Can use computers and learn our booking system.
- Can safely handle, move and clean camping equipment.
- Has the right to work in Australia.
- Holds, or is willing to obtain, a current police clearance.
- Preferably lives in Maylands or a nearby suburb.

Previous customer service, retail or equipment hire experience would be helpful.
